Warren Regina wins CHSL Bishop Division championship

Warren Regina reclaimed the Catholic High School League’s Bishop Division girls cross-country team championship. Regina out-raced last year’s champ, Dearborn Divine Child, 48 to 62 points. Regina’s top runner, Grace Zdankiewicz, finished second out of 52 runners, in 20:18.4. Kennedy Roskopp was fourth, and Regina’s scoring was filled out by 13-14-15 finishes from Jessica Jarski, Elizabeth Ambroggio and Natalie Lentine. Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard, which was third with 64 points, had the individual champion in Gianna Hoving. Her time of 19:40.5 was 38 seconds faster than Zdankiewicz. Bloomfield Hills Marian, the regular-season jamboree champions, finished in fourth place.

Royal Oak Shrine Catholic wins CHSL Cardinal Division championship

For the second time in three seasons, Royal Oak Shrine Catholic won the Catholic League’s Cardinal Division girls cross country championship on a tie-breaker. Shrine and Clarkston Everest Collegiate both had a five-runner total of 57 points, yet the Knights earned the title when their sixth runner, Lindsay Grohs, finished four places ahead of Everest’s sixth runner. Tess Tillman (seventh), Annaliese Losey (10th), Isobel Malcolm (12th), Rose Losey (18th) and Clara Losey (22nd) were Shrine’s scoring runners, with Grohs crossing the line 24th. Everest was led by Alyse Felix, who was fifth. Allen Park Cabrini sophomore Ava Teed won the individual championship for the second year in a row – this time, by 47 seconds over Grosse Pointe Woods’ University Liggett’s Kerith Short.
