Farmington Hills Mercy 51, Bloomfield Hills Marian 40

The Marlins (17-2) held off a late Mustangs (14-4) rally to win its first CHSL Bishop championship since 2017 and its eighth overall. The Marlins led 15-9 after one quarter, 27-21 at halftime, and 33-28 after three quarters. But the Mustangs closed the game to 35-34 with three minutes left. The Marlins used a 16-6 run to end the game, making eight of 10 free throws. Freshman Maya White scored 14 points to lead the Marlins. Junior Julia Bishop, junior Alexis Roberts, and junior Maddie Kenney each scored seven points in the win. Sophomore Sophie Dugas added six points. The Marlins and Mustangs split their two regular-season games with the Marlins winning at home, 46-34, on Jan. 7 and the Mustangs taking a 36-29 win on Jan. 28 on their home court, and the two shared the CHSL Central Division championship.

Farmington Hills Mercy 60, Dearborn Divine Child 59

Junior Julia Bishop drove the length of the court after grabbing a rebound and was fouled with .09 left on the clock and hit a free throw to lift the Marlins (16-2) past the Falcons (10-8). After Bishop hit the first free throw, she intentionally missed the second to allow the clock to run out. Bishop finished with 15 points. Freshman Maya White led the Marlins with 18 points. Freshman Kennedy Blair led the Falcons with 28 points.

The two-time defending Bishop champion Mustangs outscored the Irish 14-2 in the fourth quarter to advance to the final. The Mustangs (14-3). The Irish (9-8) led 21-20 at halftime. Sophomore Sarah Sylvester led the Mustangs with 19 points. Sophomore Anna Herberholz scored 10 points. Sophomore Lainey Garbarz led the Irish with nine points

The Lakers (12-7) won their first CHSL Cardinal girls basketball championship since 2016, downing the Stars (13-5). Junior Brooklyn Robak scored 17 points to lead the Lakers. Freshman Quinn Robak scored 10 points. Senior Isabella Kline added eight points in the win. Junior Alexis Koenig scored four points. The Lakers led 23-16 at halftime and 34-22 after three quarters.

The Stars (13-4) dominated the game from the opening tip-off, eliminating the Ventures (15-3). The Stars return to the CHSL final for the second year in a row. St. Catherine led 26-8 at halftime. Junior Darbi Klatt led the Stars with 13 points while senior Lizzy Turek and freshman Hailey Baumann both added 10 points.

The Lakers (11-7) earned a spot in the CHSL final, holding off the defending champion Knights (12-5). The Lakers led 24-22 at halftime and used a 17-8 third-quarter run to extend the lead to 41-30. The Lakers were led by cousins Quinn Robak’s (a freshman) 18 points and Brooklyn Robak’s (a junior) 15 points.

Frank Connelly Award

Frank Connolly Award was named for the late director of the Catholic Youth Organization  who was responsible for the beginning and fostering growth in girls' basketball. The award is presented annually to the outstanding female scholar-athlete in girls' basketball.
