Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett wins first CHSL championship
Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett tipped Farmington Hills Mercy 3-2 in overtime to win its first Catholic High School League Girls Hockey Championship. Liggett got on the board first with a goal by Allyson Doppke. Mercy tied the game late in the first period on a goal by Ashley Manning. After a scoreless second period, Mercy took the lead on a goal by Elise Brown with 12:19 left in the game. Sullivan Estes tied the game for Liggett with a goal with 5:35 left to force overtime. Sofie Ancona scored the game-winner with 1:18 left in overtime. Brooklyn Peshl earned the victory in goal for the Knights.
